Coffee and all those additives. What's you mix?

At what point does it stop being coffee? The list of "stuff" people are putting in coffee today is endless.   Butter, Marijuana, Beer, any adult beverage for that matter. So is it the coffee your drinking or the additives.  Don't get me wrong I am not some coffee purest but come on people It's coffee. Not some base liquid in need of all matter of additives to make it worth enjoying.

Juan Valdez sues Mother Goose and Grimm for $20 Million Dollars

A Colombian coffee-growers group is suing cartoonist Mike Peters of  Mother Goose & Grimm strip involving Colombian coffee and crime syndicates. According to Colombia Reports , the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia doesn’t see the joke that uses the group’s old slogan, “There’s a little bit of Juan Valdez in every can,” to suggest (I guess?) that the nation’s organized-crime groups use the cans to dispose of human remains. (Juan Valdez is,the fiction character the federation has used since the late 1950's to market “100-percent Colombian coffee.”) At a press conference Tuesday in Bogota, the association’s president criticized the strip for linking the “atrocities of the violent groups” to the “hard, honest” work of the nation’s coffee growers. Gabriel Silva says the group seeks “not just an economic compensation for something that damages the intellectual heritage. We also want moral compensation. How much you may be askin...

Caffeine and your headaches.

Headaches and caffeine.    A clinical trial in Illinois found that caffeine, which reduces the swelling of blood vessels, can reduce both the intensity and frequency of headaches. People in one group were given caffeine alone, and 58 percent reported complete relief. People in the other group were given caffeine  in and ibuprofen, and 70 percent saw symptoms reduced.

E-Cigarettes and Your Coffee shop.

E-cigarettes, vaping and coffee? A growing number of coffee shops are catering to e-cigarette users today. The majority of these coffee shops are in Urban locations with a young adult costumer base. Vaping is growing by leaps and bounds in the US as the taboo of tobacco use in public is well entrenched and not likely to subside anytime soon. Vaping is likely to be a short lived practice as e-cigarette use is under they eye of both local and federal governments. The end result of this is unclear but electronically lighting up in a coffee shop is likely to go the way of the pipe.

Coffee is good for your teeth?

Researchers are making a new claim about coffee and your teeth. A cup of black coffee a day could keep the dentist away? According to a new study, Your teeth may not be bright white, but it could help you keep your teeth. Scientists tested  Coffea canephora , a type of bean used a large percentage of the world’s coffee.   The tests showed that the coffee breaks down bacteria biofilms that cause plaque, but more research is needed before a direct link can be established. Researchers warned that too much coffee can still be bad for teeth.   Excessive coffee consumption, has it's problems tho, including staining and the acidity effects on tooth enamel, Also if you take a lot of sugar and cream in your coffee, any positive effects on your teeth are probably going to be cancelled out.

Subway and Keurig reach deal.

Subway and Keurig Green Mountain have announced that they have reached a deal that puts a Keurig brewer in each of the thousands of Subway shops in the United States and Canada. The one cup at a time Keurig coffeemaker, makings it easier for the Subway shops to serve fresh coffee at any time of the day or night, the companies said in a prepared release.  Over half of the Subway locations in the U.S. and Canada already use a Keurig to make coffee for customers. "We've heard overwhelmingly positive feedback," said David Zambory, the beverage manager for the Subway chain.

Farther's day gift..... coffee

What to get dad for father's day? A tie, golf balls, NFL Sunday ticket?  How about a coffee grinder and some extra nice coffee beans.  Mother's day is flowers, Father's day is ties. So be bold, be different, get dad a grinder and some extra nice coffee beans. Your father's day gift just might stand out from the crowd. Who knows you just might one up your older sister in the process. That alone is worth the chance.

A coffee Keg er?

A coffee keg er ? A Queens NY. company (Joyride Coffee Distributors) is doing just that. The company provides 5 gallon kegs of concentrated cold-brew coffee to offices in the metro area. I don't think  Bud and Coors are looking over their shoulders at this intrusion into their turf yet. So if you are into iced coffee in large volumes and live in the NY metro area this could be your answer.
