It could be in the future. With all of the health news and effects of Caffeine on a person's health and physical performance appearing in the news. Caffeine could soon join the long list of forbidden chemicals that a professional athlete can have in their system.    Recent tests have rendered results of a reduction of 2 strokes off of your golf game. Used coffee grounds can help stop global warming.

With the environment in the news lately. Here is one you didn't see coming. Used coffee grounds are very good at storing Methane.   Methane is a global warming gas many times more potent that carbon dioxide. With Methane having one advantage over Carbon Dioxide. That is Methane can be used as a fuel.   The process to make this work is relative simple with the moist used coffee grounds being heated with potassium hydroxide.   So who cares you may be asking yourself. While It's not likely your local power company will be digging around in your trash ben for your used coffee grounds in order to capture and store their Methane emissions.   Some smaller producers of Methane emissions may have some interest. Many oil wells also produce small amounts of natural gas. The volume of gas is so small that it's uneconomical to lay the needed pipe in order to place this gas into the natural gas lines that heat your home. So this g...

The Greeks Dround their troubles in a cup of coffee

Hammered by falling pensions and wages, higher taxes and soaring unemployment, Greeks of all walks of life should be cutting back on consumption.   However iced coffee, freddo or frappe, which can cost anywhere between 2 and 4.5 euros ($5) in downtown Athens is on the must have list.  Cafes in Athens remain packed, disguising the turmoil convulsing Greek society.   Iced coffees now dominate sales, but there may yet be a return to the traditional Greek coffee, cheaper than most at up to 2 euros.   In some way it reminds a person about the band playing on the Titanic to the bitter end.

Stop! No coffee till mid morning!

Well...well... Now a cup of coffee first thing in the morning may not be the best time of day to get the most bang for your cup. Appears  a recent study says that your body's chemistry is not that conducive to a caffeine hit when you first roll out of bed.  The best times for the maximum caffeine buzz appear to be 10,2 and 4......Sound familiar? That's right, good old DR. Pepper.  This is an obvious attempt to cut into coffee's dominance as that morning drink for millions by Big Cola. No doubt the study was funded by the makes of DR. Pepper and other like minded soft drink makers. Now the study that said that coffee harvested during a full moon is one you can hang you hat on. Now that's real science.

Is the United Kingdom going to ban Coffee?

A proposed U.K. bill, expected to be released later this week, includes a "blanket ban" on legal highs, and the current legislation is written in a way to make the ban so broad that alcohol, cigarettes, and COFFEE are included unless specific exemptions are issued.   Queen Elizabeth announced the legislation on 5/26/2015, and the bill would ban "any substance intended for human consumption that is capable of producing a psychoactive effect."   The new law would carry a maximum of up to seven-years in prison. The Guardian reports . The bill would first ban all psychoactive substances and then list which if any substances will be government-permitted.  Poland has a similar law, but the law says that substances must produce a "significant" effect, so caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco are not banned.   The U.K. law is designed to prohibit chemically engi...
